Adjusting the water retention curve for retractable soils

نویسندگان

چکیده

The soil water retention curve (SWRC) relates moisture to energy (matrix potential). calculation of the volumetrichumidity considers sample volume. In retractable soils, this volume varies according drying or wetting soil, which can result in errors calculated moisture. objective study is quantify variation soils and elaborate SWRC via traditional method, does not consider retraction, a second called adjusted, that thephenomenon retraction. Soil samples have been collected horizons A B from six profiles Thus, for it isrecommended adjustment be carried out considering actual (retracted), each matrix potential applied. This reduces errors, mainly determining permanent wilt point available water.

Estimation of Water Retention Curve for Unsaturated Fine Soils

In order to obtain the soil water retention curve of an unsaturated soil which is defined as the relationship between water content and suction, extensive laboratory tests are essential. These laboratory tests are usually costly and time consuming. Moreover, for most practical problems, it has been found that approximate unsaturated soil properties are adequate for analysis. Thus, empirical pro...

Water Retention and Characteristic Curve

A soil-water characteristic (SWC) curve describes the amount of water retained in a soil (expressed as mass or volume water content, m or v) under equilibrium at a given matric potential. An SWC is an important hydraulic property, related to size and connectedness of pore spaces, hence strongly affected by soil texture and structure, and by other constituents, including organic matter. Modeling...

Adjusting the generalized ROC curve for covariates.

Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and in particular the area under the curve (AUC), are widely used to examine the effectiveness of diagnostic markers. Diagnostic markers and their corresponding ROC curves can be strongly influenced by covariate variables. When several diagnostic markers are available, they can be combined by a best linear combination such that the area under the R...
